Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the 5G standalone services on Monday, adding that the launch will take place in select Indian cities ahead of Diwali this year. He announced a series of partnerships for a rapid deployment of the 5G plan.
Jio and Meta collaborate on the Metaverse. Additionally, it collaborates with Google on the Cloud and incredibly affordable 5G cell phones. It will also collaborate on cloud computing with Microsoft and have a partnership with Intel on 5G infrastructure, computing and edge computing.
Partnership with Qualcomm
Mukesh Ambani said Reliance Jio has partnered with Qualcomm to develop 5G solutions for India. “We are privileged to have the world’s leading technology companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Cisco as partners in our 5G ‘Made in India’ collaboration. Today I am announcing a partnership exciting with Qualcomm”. He added that they have entered into a collaboration with Qualcomm to develop a 5G solution for India, which can be rolled out to the rest of the world.
Affordable 5G Smartphones
Speaking at Reliance Industries’ 45th Annual General Meeting, he further said his company is partnering with Google to develop ultra-affordable 5G smartphones. He revealed that the company was working with Google to develop ultra-affordable smartphones for the Indian market.
Earlier in the event, announcing the launch of 5G services, Mukesh Ambani said that 5G cannot be restricted to the privileged only as digital freedom is the birthright of every India. He said Jio will deliver the highest quality and most affordable 5G to make India the biggest data-powered economy ahead of the US and China.
At the AGM, Ambani said he aspired to deliver 5G to every taluka, every district in India within the next 18 months. He said Jio 5G will empower the fourth revolution by connecting everyone, every place and everything.
Reliance said it would launch its 5G services over the next two months, starting in a few cities first and then covering India by the end of 2023.
