Prez Murmu and PM Modi greet Odisha people on ‘Nuakhai’ harvest festival

Nuakhai is an agrarian festival where the first harvest from the field is offered to the goddess in the western districts of the state and people seek the blessings of the elders in every household

President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Nuakhai and wished this unique festival of love, devotion and harmony to bring happiness, peace and prosperity to all.

Nuakhai is an agrarian festival where the first harvest from the field is offered to the goddess in the western districts of the state and people seek the blessings of the elders in every household.

The festival is observed mainly in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Deogarh and Sundergarh. “Nuakhai Juhar. On the occasion of Nuakhai, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the brothers and sisters of Odisha, especially the brothers and sisters of western Odisha. I sincerely wish that this unique festival of love, devotion and harmony brings happiness, peace and prosperity to all,” Murmu tweeted in Odia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the people on the occasion of Nuakhai Juhar. “Nuakhai Juhar! Best wishes to all on this special day.

“This is an opportunity to express our gratitude to our hard-working farmers for their exemplary work in feeding our nation. May our society reach new heights of progress and may everyone be happy and healthy,” Modi tweeted.
