Nice presented their fans with the signing of free agent Ross Barkley, who was released by Chelsea on Sunday ahead of their Ligue 1 home game against neighbors Monaco.
Barkley played 33 times for England and was in the squad for the 2014 World Cup.

He struggled after moving from Everton to Chelsea for £15m ($17m) in 2018. He played 58 Premier League games in five seasons and was also on loan at Aston Villa.
He left Chelsea by mutual agreement at the end of August.
Barkley is the 12th recruit from Nice this summer.
The club is owned by the British company Ineos, led by Englishman Jim Ratcliffe.
Three of the summer recruits Nicolas Pepe, Joe Bryan, Mads Bech Sorensen, are on loan from English clubs. Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was bought from Leicester, while Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey arrived after his contract with Juventus terminated in July.
