NSUI protest outside NTA office and demand further attempt for JEE lead candidates

On Thursday, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) protested outside the National Testing Agency office in Delhi against alleged technical issues and mismanagement of JEE Main exams. The student wing of the Congress party has demanded an extra attempt for students who have been affected by the engineering entrance exam issue, Live Hindustan reported.

The NSUI alleged that the students were unable to complete their assignments on time due to technical problems at the exam center. They added that many students were not allowed to appear in JEE Advanced although they passed the qualification.

The protesters denounced the NTA for failings in conducting the entrance test and demanded why students should suffer because of the testing agency’s mismanagement.

Earlier, a section of students had moved to the Supreme Court to demand an additional attempt, citing irregularities and technical issues during the second session of JEE Main 2022. The students had claimed that the technical issues they had faced during the exam had affected their performance and they must be compensated by an extra session of the exam. However, the Supreme Court rejected their plea.

A JEE Main aspirant had alleged that his answer sheets had been altered. The candidates’ father claimed that his son received two different answer sheets. He claimed that when his son downloaded the answer sheet on August 3, the answers his son submitted were different from those listed on the website on August 4.

The candidates had moved to the Delhi High Court alleging a discrepancy in the answer key.

The petitioner said he attempted 58 out of 75 questions and according to the answer sheet published on August 3, he scored 212 points in JEE Advanced. However, the next day, a different answer sheet was released by NTA, and his scores were reduced to just 168. This pushed his rank behind 50,000 candidates.

Reports of mismanagement and chaos during the August 28 JEE Advanced exams also came from different parts of the country. One such affected contestant said that she was barred from appearing in JEE Advanced despite having an admission card and a 99.07 percentile score in JEE Main.
