Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant, to lead new energy business at Reliance

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, was named head of the conglomerate’s energy business on Monday.

Anant’s appointment is part of Papa Mukesh’s bid to hand over the reins of his juggernaut to the younger generation. He has been a director of JPL, or Jio Platforms, for over two years and was recently confirmed as a director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL).

Ambani also handed over the management of Reliace’s retail wing to his daughter Isha. However, he also said he had no intention of retiring at this time and would “continue to exercise practical leadership as before”. “Akash and Isha have served in leadership roles at Jio and Retail, respectively. They have been passionately involved in our consumer businesses since inception.”

Reliance is categorized into three major businesses: oil refining and petrochemicals, retail, and digital services which includes telecommunications.

Furthermore, Ambani added, “Anant has also joined our new energy business with great zeal. In fact, he spends most of his time in Jamnagar.

The 65-year-old tycoon hinted at a simple transfer of wealth in the estate plan after he and his younger brother engaged in a contentious succession battle after their father died without a will in 2002.
