How to link the identity of the voter to the Aadhar card? Follow these simple steps

The Election Commission has launched a campaign to link voter ID cards to Aadhar in several states. The polling station said the exercise is underway to establish the identity of voters and authentication of voter registration.

This comes months after Parliament passed the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2021 to link voter roll data to the Aadhaar ecosystem.

The Electoral Commission has said that the process of linking the Aadhar card with the voter ID card will help detect a voter’s registration in more than one constituency or more than once in the same constituency . However, the polling panel did not make it mandatory to link Aadhar to the voter ID card, the Hindustan Times’ sister publication Live Hindustan reported.

If you want to link your voter card to Aadhar card, here are the steps to follow.

STEP 1: Download “Vote Helpline App” on your smartphone from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

STEP 2: Open the app, select the “I accept” option and press the Next button.

STEP 3: Select the “Voter Registration” option.

STEP 7: Select the option “Yes, I have a voter card” and click “Next”.

STEP 8: Enter your Voter Identification Number (EPIC), select the State and press the “Retrieve Details” option.

STEP 9: Select the “Continue” option.
