Two days after police arrested Telangana BJP chairman Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s ‘padayatra’, the High Court on Thursday cleared him to continue the march.
The BJP had asked the court to challenge a notice issued on Tuesday by the police of the Warangal police station to arrest the “padayatra” in the district of Jangaon, apprehending a problem of public order.
Police arrested Mr Kumar on Tuesday during a protest in Pamnoor, where he was camping as part of his “padayatra”, and transferred him to his residence in Karimnagar.
Welcoming the court order, the BJP said Mr Kumar, who represents Karimnagar in Lok Sabha, would resume “padayatra” immediately.
The third phase of Mr Kumar’s “padayatra” started on August 2 and is due to end on August 27.
BJP National Chairman JP Nadda will attend a public meeting at the end of the third phase of “padayatra”.
