The players of India’s women’s hockey team are currently fine-tuning some aspects of their game at the national camp at the Sports Authority of India campus in Bangalore.

Indian dragflicker Gurjit Kaur says the team is determined to qualify for the FIH Hockey Pro League.

“We have gained a lot of confidence after winning the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022. Everyone has improved steadily and we are moving forward well as a group. Currently, our focus is entirely on the FIH Women’s Hockey Nations Cup. We are very determined to qualify for the FIH Hockey Pro League. We had a great experience in the last edition of the FIH Hockey Pro League and we are all looking forward to having the opportunity to represent India in the competition again,” said the Defender.

When asked if she feels the pressure in big games, Gurjit said: “Converting penalty corners has been one of my strengths and it’s a scoring technique that we use very often, but I don’t feel pressure in the role because I see the role as a responsibility. I’ve always wanted to make a big impact for my team and me and I’m happy that I was able to do that in some important games.

Gurjit also said that she is working on improving her dragflicking prowess: “The game will constantly change and players around the world will continue to improve and so it is important for us to continue to evolve as well. I noted some things i need to improve during the CWG and i worked on them in the national camp.i need to keep working on my game and keep improving as a player and especially as a dragflicker.
