As Starbucks appoints Laxman as CEO, here is a list of Indian CEOs of major multinational corporations


Laxman Narasimhan is the latest to join the list of CEOs of Indian origin in the world. He has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the world’s largest coffeehouse chain, Starbucks. Prior to that, Narasimhan was the CEO of Reckitt, which is the maker of Durex condoms, Enfamil infant formula and Mucinex cold syrup. Here is the list of multinational CEOs of Indian origin:

Google CEO: Sundar Pichai

Google is the most popular internet search engine. Sundar Pichai was appointed CEO on August 10, 2015.

Microsoft CEO: Satya Nadella

Microsoft is the largest computer software provider in the world. The US-based company also produces consumer electronics, personal computers and related services. Satya Nadella was named the new CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. He is the third CEO in Microsoft history, after Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.

Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe

Adobe is a multinational computer software company based in the United States. Its flagship products are Adobe Photoshop image editing software, Adobe Illustrator vector illustration software, and Adobe Acrobat Reader, among others. Shantanu Narayen was appointed CEO of Adobe in December 2007. He is now Chairman, President and CEO of the company.

Parag Agrawal, CEO of Twitter

Twitter is the most popular microblogging site in the world. Parag Agrawal took over as CEO of Twitter in November 2021.

Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM

IBM, based in the United States, produces and sells computer hardware and software, as well as cloud computing and data analytics. Arvind Krishna has been CEO and President of IBM since April 2020 and January 2021, respectively.

Leena Nair, CEO of Chanel

Chanel is a French luxury fashion house. Leena Nair was appointed Global Managing Director in December 2021.

Gunjan Shah, CEO of Bata

Bata is a multinational footwear, apparel and fashion accessories manufacturer based in Switzerland. His shoes are very popular in India. Gunjan Shah was appointed CEO of the company in May 2021.

VMWare CEO, Raghu Raghuram

VMware is a cloud computing and virtualization technology company based in the United States. Raghu Raghuram was appointed CEO in May 2021.

Other Indian CEOs include: the world’s leading food and pharmaceutical retailer Albertson CEO Vivek Sankaran, US-based cybersecurity company Palo Alto CEO Nikesh Arora, Swiss-based global healthcare company Novartis CEO Vasant Narasimhan, US-based computer networking company Arista CEO Jayshree Ullal, hybrid cloud data services and data management company NetApp CEO George Kurian.

That aside, on the rich list as well, Gautam Adani became the third richest person in the world. It is the first time an Asian has entered the top 3 of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of $137.4 billion. He is now just behind Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in the world rankings.

Telsa CEO Elon Musk has a net worth of $251 billion, while Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has a total net worth of $153 billion. Gautam Adani, co-founder and chairman of the Adani Group, left behind business magnate Bernard Arnault, who is the co-founder of the luxury fashion chain LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, commonly referred to as LVMH, in the rankings.
